113014: Sir William Wallace

The Sir William Wallace was a 232 ton brig, built of English oak, with copper fastenings under the waterline. The ship, having sailed from Quebec with a cargo of timber, was wrecked in gales on 24th October 1834, and driven ashore on Berneray. The cargo and hull were later auctioned. However, it seems that not all the hull was sold, as the wreck was re-discovered by Donald Morrison in 1942.
