108886: St Michael’s Chapel, Kallin, Grimsay

Teampall Naomh Mhicheil

St Michael’s Chapel, Teampall Naomh Mhicheil, was built on a promontory in the south east corner of Grimsay. The chapel is believed to have been founded by Amy MacRuairi during the second half of the 14th century.

The building is now in ruins although the west gable survives, surrounded by a disused graveyard.

A detailed description of the site can be found in Beveridge’s North Uist: Its Archaeology and Topography.
