The Battle of Ypres refers to all of the fighting in the area during the First World War. There were five major battles in the area however and these have their own names.

• First Battle of Ypres (19 October- 22 November 1914)
• Second Battle of Ypres (22 April – 15 May 1915)
• Third Battle of Ypres / Battle of Passchendaele (31 July – 10 November 1917)
• Fourth Battle of Ypres / Battle of the Lys/ Battles of Estaires (9–29 April 1918)
• Fifth Battle of Ypres / Advance of Flanders / Battle of the Peaks of Flanders (28 September – 2 October 1918)
