Donald MacDonald (1894-1967) lived in Haye, Balivanich and was widely known as Doddie Haye. He enlisted at Torlum in 1911 in the Lovat Scouts, aged 17. He later served with the Machine Gun Corps, the Cameron Highlanders and the Seaforth Highlanders. He was discharged in 1919 in London, having served 4 years and 197 days 'with colours', and 3 years and 203 days in the Territorial Force.
