115759: Murdo Mackenzie

Murdo (1807-1867) was the son of John Mackenzie. He had links to Ness and Stornoway.

He married Margaret Macdonald of Stornoway. The couple had nine children and only eight survived.

In the late 1840s Murdo became schoolmaster at Coll School and the family settled at the Coll Schoolhouse.

In the mid-1850s Murdo became schoolmaster at Garrabost school and the family settled at the Garrabost Schoolhouse.
