122235: Jessie Ann Nicolson Kennedy
Jessie Ann Nicolson Kennedy (1922-2022) was a daughter of Donald Kennedy and Flora Macleod who were then living in Stornoway. Her father died when Jessie Ann was in her second year. Jessie Ann's early school years were in Stornoway and then she and her mother moved to Glasgow for a short period before returning to 33 Upper Shader, Lewis the maternal croft. On completing her school education she entered service and trained at Domestic Science School in Edinburgh. Other employments followed.
In 1951, at Gardner Street Church of Scotland, Glasgow Jessie Ann married Donald Roderick Mackenzie from 9a Arivruach. They set up home at that address and there raised their own family of three sons. Jessie Ann supported croft work and the family Harris Tweed business.
She was widowed in 2002 and was resident in Arivruach at the time of her death.
