John (1821-1896) was a son of John Maccuish and Unknown Macdonald from Reumisgarry, North Uist.

In North Uist, in 1849, he married Jane Macdonald of Paiblesgarry, North Uist.  John and Jane were cottars at Hougharry and they had nine children.

John was widowed in 1894.
