John (born 1867) was the son of John Smith and Marion Campbell 22 South Bragar. 

In Shawbost, in 1896, he married Annie Maclean, 30 New Shawbost. John and Annie  lived at 22 South Bragar OHOC.  The couple did not have children. 

John was widowed the year of his marriage and in Stornoway in 1897 he married Christina Maclean, 17 South Bragar. John and Christina  lived at 22 South Bragar, OHOC and they  had at least four children.

The family later moved to 48 Garrabost.
