Dena Isabella (1923-2008) was a daughter of Rev Murdo Smith and Margaret Williamina Matheson, Broadford, Isle of Skye. Her mother died in 1925 and when her father died in 1936 Dena Isabella and her sister, Peggy Mairi were brought up by her maternal grandfather and aunt in Ullapool.

At Aberdeen, in 1952, Dena Isabella married John Arnaud. The couple settled in Aberdeen.
