125748: Roderick Macleod
Ruairaidh Uilleim Thorcuill
Roderick (1958-2024) was a son of William Macleod and Mary Ann Smith, Munster, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany where his father was serving.
Around 1974 the family were living at Laxdale Lane. Roderick later left the island to work as a Carpenter. He lived in London and fell on hard times. He kept in touch with his brother, Torquil until the 1990s
In 2005 he was the victim of a serious attack and was found at Waterloo Bridge where he was admitted to hospital for urgent surgery to relieve the pressure on his brain. As a result he was placed under the care of Camden Social Services with a priority need to find his brother. The council placed Roderick in a Care Home where he lived for 18 years with no contact with his family. Torquil's family managed to trace him shortly before his death.
Roderick died aged 66 and is buried in Sandwick Cemetery .
