Roderick (1831-1898) was a son of Donald Mackinnon and Catherine Maclennan, Crobeg. The family moved to 4 Caverstay.
He married Catherine Macdonald, 10 Garyvard. Roderick and Catherine settled at 4 Caverstay and they had fourteen children, two of whom died at a young age and three who died in infancy.
In 1861, Norman Mackay, 11 Kershader is living with the family.
