Norman Macleod (1785-1871) was from Geshader. His second Mariage Certificate gives his date of birth as 17 July 1785 and his parents were John Macleod and Christina Gillies from Baile na Cille.  He served as a soldier in the 78th Seaforth Highlanders and was blinded.

Norman married  Margaret Smith, 15 Old Mangersta. Norman and Margaret settled at 15 Mangersta and they had seven children.

Norman was widowed in 1853 and at Uigen,  in 1855, he married Christina Maciver, 4 Geshader. The couple lived at 15 Old Mangersta and they had no children.
