72429: Norman MacLeod

Norman MacLeod (1889 -1918) was the son of Margaret Paterson of Rubha Mor and Ewen MacLeod of Quay.
He lived with his mother at Quay and moved to 9 Ruisgarry (Gunhill). They later moved to Govanhill, Glasgow. His parents married in 1916.
Norman worked Droving Sheep in the Falkirk area where he met his future wife. They married and lived at Slamannan for a time. The couple had two daughters.
Norman served in the First World War in the 19th Battalion of the Machine Gun Corps, Service Number 64567. He lost his life in France and his name is commemorated on the Soissons War Memorial which commemorates the lives of 4000 men lost in France who have no known grave.
