9269: Janet Anderson

Janet (1890-1961) was a daughter of Robert Anderson and Janet Macmillan, Pirnmill, Isle of Arran. She worked in their Grocery Shop with her mother.

In 1917, on the Isle of Arran, she married Angus Smith, Seaview, Keose who was Headmaster at the local school. Janet and Angus lived at Shishkine Schoolhouse and they had four children. During Angus's 30-year service in Shiskine School, Jenny was the indispensable factotum of the family and school.

After Angus retired the couple lived at Clisham a house in Prinmill built by Janet's father for her.

Janet died from a Coronary Thrombosis aged seventy. Her remains are interred in Clachan Cemetery, Shishkine.
