104736: Laurel Crown (SY708)/ HMD Laurel Crown

The Laurel Crown was built of wood by Forbes of Sandhaven for Andrew Dougal and T Paterson of Eyemouth, in 1914.

She was requisitioned by the Royal Navy  from 1915-1919 for use on Harbour service and anti-submarine net vessel. The Laurel Crown was mined on June 22, 1916 with the loss of nine lives.

Sold to William Macdonald, Sheshader, Norman Macdonald, Norman Montgomery and D Macleod, Stornoway in 1947 and used until 1951.

In the Second World War the Laurel Crown- was chartered to carry cement for the Churchill Barriers.

Scrapped in 1953.
