The SS Port Bowen was a Steam Turbine Cargo Ship built by Workman, Clark & Co., Belfast in 1919. On her way from Sydney to London with general cargo, she ran aground 1 mile north of Wanganuie, New Zealand on July 18, 1939 and may have hit a German mine.
