120079: HMS/SS Arawa (140148)

This Steel Passenger/Cargo Steamship was built in in 1921 by William Beardmore & Company, Dalmuir for the Commonwealth Government Line of Steamers, Freemantle. She was named SS Esperance Bay and changed owners several times. In 1936 she was purchased by Shaw, Saville and Albion, London and renamed SS Arawa.

Requistioned by the Admiralty in 1939 the HMS Arawa served in the Second World War until 1941.
