The SS Papelera was a Steel Screw Cargo Steamer built by Osborne, Graham & Co, Sunderland in 1922 for Fearnley & Eger, Christiana.

In 1929 she was purchased by Mossgeil SS Co Ltd and her name changed to SS Almernara.

On passage from Syracuse to Taranto with a cargo of munitions and stores the SS Almenara was mined and sunk on September 20, 1943.
