120168: SS Runic

The SS Runic was a Refrigerated Cargo Ship built by Harland & Wolff, Belfast in 1949 for the Shaw Saville and Albion Line.

She was designed for Trade on the Australia and New Zealand run.

On passage from Brisbane to New Zealand, on February 19, 1961, in a Hurricane, the SS Runic ran aground on the reefs and was sunk.
