120188: SS Tuscan Star (161395)

The SS Tuscan Star was a Refrigerated Cargo Vessel built by Palmer’s Shipbuilding & Iron Co Ltd, Hebburn in 1929 for the Blue Star Line Ltd.

On December 17, 1939 she was on passage from Buenos Aires to the United Kingdom when she was torpedoed and sunk 330 miles south west of Monrovia.  There were 63 survivors from a crew of 114.
