120486: SS/HMS Transylvania (148874) (F56)

The SS Transylvania was an Ocean Liner built by Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Co Ltd, Govan in 1925 for the Anchor Line Ltd.

She was requisitioned by the Admiralty in August 1939, converted to an Armed Merchant Cruiser  and served in the Second World War.

On August 9, 1940 the HMS Transylvania was torpedoed and later sunk with the loss of 36 lives.
