120508: SS Cape Howe (145660) / HMS Cape Howe (X02)
The SS Knight Almoner was built by Lithgows Ltd, Glasgow in 1930 for Thomas Pardoe & Co, Newport. She was sold in 1934 and renamed SS Cape Howe. Requisitioned by the Admiralty in 1939 the HMS Cape Howe served in the Second World War.
On June 21, 1940, the HMS Cape Howe was torpedoed and sunk with the loss of 70 lives.
