120536: SS Durham Castle (118387)

The SS Durham Castle was a Passenger Cargo Refrigerated Steamship built by Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Co Ltd, Govan for the Union Castle Mail Steamship Co Ltd, London.

She was sent for scrapping in 1939 but was requisitioned by the Admiralty to be used as a block ship at Scapa Flow.  On tow, off Cromarty, on January 26, 1940 the SS Durham Castle was mined and sunk.
