120537: SS Maresfield (129079)

The SS Maresfield was a Cargo Steamship built by J L Thompson & Sons Ltd, North Sands in 1910 for the Woodfield Steam Shipping Co, London.

She was requisitioned by the Admiralty in 1917 and was used as a submarine decoy vessel “Q” Ship under the names Chiswell and Sequax. The SS Maresfield was returned to her owners in 1918 and was sold four times before she collided with the American Tanker Jacksonville in the Mersey on August 3, 1944.
