120833: SS/HMS Grive

The SS Grive was a Steamship built by the Caledon Shipbuilding and Engineering Co Ltd, Dundee in 1905 for the General Steam Navigation Co, London.  She was requisitioned by the Admiralty and served as an Armed Boarding Vessel in the First World War.

On December 8, 1917 HMS Grive was approaching Lerwick, Shetland and was holed by an unknown source. She was taken under tow and later sunk at North Ronaldsay Lighthouse, with no loss of life.
