120903: RMS Carpathia (118014)

The RMS Carpathia was a Transatlantic Liner built by Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson, Wallsend in 1902 for the Cunard Line. She became famous for rescuing 705 survivors from the Titanic in April 1912.

During the First World War RMS Carpathia was used to transfer American and Canadian Expeditionery Forces to Europe.

On passage from Liverpool to Boston on July 15, 1918 the RMS Carpathia was torpedoed and sunk with the loss of five lives.
