The SS Amsterdam was built by Earle’s Shipbuilding, Hull in 1894 for the Eastern Steam Raillway, She ran the Harwich to the Hook of Holland route and was requisitioned by the Admiralty on October 31, 1914 as an Armed Boarding Steamer HMS Amsterdam until September 29, 1919.

She was scrapped in 1928,
