121019: RMS/HMS Alaunia
The RMS Alaunia was an Ocean Liner and Royal Mail Steamship built by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Co Ltd, Greenock in 1913 for the Cunard Line. She was requisitioned as a Troopship and HMS Alaunia was the first Cunard ship to transport Canadian troops. She carried troops to Gallipoli and Bombay.
On October 19, 1916 on passage from London to New York the HMS Alaunia struck a mine and sunk with the loss of two lives.
