40490: An Eaglais Dhearg

When Dr P J Macleod bought the building, formerly used by the United Free Church, he gave it to the Bernera recreation club. It was painted red and known as “an Eaglais Dhearg” (the red church). Part of it was used by the doctor as a surgery before a proper bulding was erected for that purpose. It was finally demolished when the present Community Centre was built in the 1970’s.
