James Macdonald, Habost, who ran various enterprises in Pairc, set up a tweed business in partnership with his former employer, Gilbert Archer of J & J Tod Ltd, wholesalers in Stornoway.
The Macdonald factory set up in the old Leverhulme (unused) canning factory in Stornoway. The factory was the first in the Outer Hebrides that could carry out all the processes of the manufacture of Harris Tweed under one roof.
