3a North Tolsta was a new croft in 1851 the first occupants were Donald Macsween and Christina Campbell and their three children.

The family left Tolsta, in 1853, with the intention of emigratating to America and this croft was added to 3 North Tolsta.

The couple's fourth child was born in 1853 but its not known if this was before or after they left 3a North Tolsta.
