104076: 17 New Tolsta

17 New Tolsta was also known as “Old Shepherd’s House”, the first occupants were John Macleod and Kenina Maciver and their three children.

The croft passed to their son Donald Malcolm Macleod, Donald was not married and the croft was eventually sold to John Murdo Maciver by Donald’s nephew.

The house (only) changed hands frequently after it passed from John Murdo, details are not known for much of its history. In 2022, it featured on Scotland’s Home of  the Year, when it scored a full 10 points from all 3 judges and became the 2022 winner. The Croft remains with John Murdo’s family.
