105036: 14a Tolsta Chaolais
The first tenant of 14 Tolsta Chaolais was Duncan Maclennan (b1803), son of John Maclennan and Catherine Macneil, Tolsta Chaolais. He was married to Ann Macleod, Bhuia Mhor, Bernera and they had six children born between 1836-1850. Duncan and his family emigrated to Bruce County, Ontario in 1851 and the croft passed to John Macleod, 11 Tolsta Chaolais.
By 1860, John returned to 11 Tolsta Chaolais and the croft passed to John Macleod, 9 Tolsta Chaolais. The croft was split between John’s sons Kenneth, 14a Tolsta Chaolais and Norman, 14b Tolsta Chaolais.
Kenneth’s son Angus (b1882) inherited the croft, followed by Angus’s son Kenneth Angus and still remains within the family.
