9 Old South Tolsta

9 Old South Tolsta

9 Old South Tolsta was a new croft in 1830 and its first occupants were Donald Mackenzie and Margaret Macdonald. In 1832 Donald Mackenzie exchanged crofts with Neil Smith of 12 Old South Tolsta.

Neil lost the croft in 1843 but remained in Old South Tolsta as a cottar until emigrating to Ontario in 1851. However, it is not known if he was a cottar at 9 Old South Tolsta or elsewhere.

From 1843 to 1851 the croft was occupied by Murdo Campbell his family; in the 1851 relottings Murdo obtained 24 North Tolsta.
