The first tenant of 1 Tong was Duncan Maclean (1786-1845) from Coll and upon his death 1 Tong passed to John Campbell (1782-1868) from 14 Tong.

John Campbell retained 14 Tong until 1850 when he swapped it for 3 & 4 Tong which he split into 3 Tong and 4 Tong. He and his wife, Mary Macdonald, settled at 1 Tong, but its not clear if any of their children settled there with them. When he died 1 Tong passed to Donald Maclennan, of 7 Tong.

Donald Maclennan passed 1 Tong to his son, Alexander, in 1927.

Alexander Maclennan married Jessie  and the croft passed to her after his death.
