William Maclean and his family resided at 29 Balallan. It is not known where they came from. William’s daughter Christina (1801-1862) who married Malcolm Macdonald, Ranish lived here for a time before Malcolm swapped crofts with Donald Kennedy (1795-1873) of 52 Balallan.

Donald’s son Malcolm (1845-1919) inherited the croft, followed by Malcolm’s son Donald (1875-1947).
