2790: 9 Aird Uig

The first tenant at 9 Aird was John Maciver from Pabbay; the croft passed to his son Norman, but he removed to 5 Ardroil and the tenancy went to Donald Matheson, 29 Valtos.

The croft at 9 Aird lost a son in 1918 when Donald Maciver was killed at sea while serving on HMS Sarnia. Two others from 9 Aird – Duncan and John Maciver – were wounded and gassed in France during the Great War.
