76902: ‘House 74’ Ferry

The house was built in about 1854 when Taskill MacAskill and his family were cleared from their previous home in order to make way for Borve Farm. It was later passed down to his two sons, Dòmhnall Mòr and Dòmhnall Beag, at which stage it must have comprised two homes, because their respective wives Ann and Margaret were not the best of friends. It later passed to John Shaw.

This property is referred to as ‘house no 74’ Port (in English, Ferry) in the croft history of the area.
