11595: Lobster pond at Loch Risay

Tob Blar Meadha

This lobster pond was built in the 1860s by Murdo Morrison, Croir, and is two miles north of the village of Kirkibost on the east side of Loch Risay. Its Gaelic name is Tob Blar Meadha. 

The dyke is about 75 yards from end to end and has a depth of four fathoms of water at high tide and two at low tide.
