Nine unroofed shieling-huts annotated as Ruins are depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Ross-shire, Island of Lewis 1855, sheet 41). One black dot annotated as an Old Shieling is shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973).

Nine unroofed shieling huts marked as ruins depicted on 1st edition OS map; four identified during course of present walk-over at NB 24103 10969; NB 24369 11205; NB 24510 10869 and NB 246291 10825. Buildings typically sub-rectangular, 2.5 x 2m internally within walls spread to 1m wide and standing up to 0.7m high.
