31968: ECC 29.1 Cromore – WALL (Undated), REVETMENT? (Undated)

Summary:

WALL (Undated)
REVETMENT? (Undated)
Stone wall or revetment

Location:

NB 39512 20641

Full description:

"Situated on the northern shore of the tidal loch that lies between Meal na Moine and the Cromore School, the remains of this stone wall or revetment snake their way around the shore from the south-west towards the north-east, just above the high water mark. There is no indication of purpose to this wall, perhaps other than for the reduction of erosion along the shore, perhaps to make the small bay it backs a more suitable place for dragging up and mooring small boats." (Burgess 2004, 107)
