49734: Lobster Pond at Pabbay Mor

A man-made saltwater enclosure, contructed in a natural bay on Pabbay Mor, for the purpose of preserving lobster catch alive until they were shipped to market and sold.

It is believed to be of a later date than the Loch Risay pond on Bernera; a detailed account of the construction and use of such ponds is given there.
