105644: Old Melbost Borve, Lewis

Old Melbost Borve was a township of 16 crofts located on land belonging to Melbost Borve Tack, formerly known as Ulbost Borve. It was in existence from the beginning of the 19th century until 1853, when it was cleared of tenants and added to Galson Farm. 

In 1924, the farm was broken again into crofts divided amongst three townships one of which is Melbost Borve. To distinguish the pre-1853 township from this, the former is referred to as Old Melbost Borve on this website.
