106215: Old South Galson, Lewis

Old South Galson is the name used on this website for the settlement situated at South Galson Tack in the early 19th century. In the 1840s there were 13 families of subtenants on the tack but they were all cleared from the land by the end of the decade. Most of them occupied crofts in the new township of New Galson.

In 1924 the land was again converted into crofts. The new settlement is dealt with separately on this website under the name of South Galson.
