108054: Whitton, Quebec

Established as a municipality in 1861, Whitton was one of the original Eastern Townships of Quebec and a main destination for immigrants from the Hebrides, especially Lewis and Harris. In 1874 it was subdivided into three municipalities, one of which retained the name of Whitton. Much later, in 1957, its name was changed to Nantes after the French city from which a second wave of settlers originated.
