4556: Tong, Lewis

The earliest settlers in Tong settled in Druim Beag around 1822.

The village of Tong was lotted in 1825. There appears to have been several crofts that moved location in the early years of the settlement. Originally crofts 1 to 5 were located on the Stornoway Tolsta road, but all moved position at some point. 2 and 4 merely moved slightly closer to Tolsta, but 1 , 3 and 5 all moved so they no longer adjoined the Stornoway Tolsta road.
