16664: Sail yard
Yard from the sail of SY171, a 15-foot Orkney boat belonging to John ‘Ned’ Macphail of 19 Gravir. It is made of pine/larch, painted green, with an iron bar one-third of the way from the base, fixed with a plaited rope that has been painted. A hole pierces the top and there is a groove 4cm from the base. Its length is 192 cm and its diameter 5 cm.
