109343: Canadian Army

The Canadian Army originated as the Canadian Militia. In 1914 the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) was created for overseas service, with the Militia serving at home. Following the First World War, the CEF was disbanded, its traditions continuing within the Canadian Militia.

In 1940 the Canadian Militia was renamed the Canadian Army, becoming part of the unified Canadian Forces in 1968.
