The National Archives

The National Archives is a non-ministerial department, and the official archive and publisher for the government of the United Kingdom, and for England and Wales. It is the guardian of over 1,000 years of national documents. The National Archives collects and secures the future of the government record, to preserve it for generations to come.

The National Archives provides advice in information and records management and is a cultural, academic and heritage institution. It fulfils a leadership role for the archive sector and works to secure the future of physical and digital records.
