60653: Seaforth Highlanders, 2nd Battalion

The 2nd Battalion of the Seaforth Highlanders was raised by Lord Seaforth from his mainland and Lewis estates in 1804.

It was known in Lewis as Saighdearan Mac a’Mhinisteir, the Soldiers of the Minister’s Son, as amongst the officers was Ensign John Munro, son of Rev Hugh Munro.
